As the First Governmental Department Among UAE DEWA Received for SA8000-2008 Certification
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, in its continuous line of excellence, achieved the Social Accountability Certification SA8000-2008, which is one of the most prestigious certification in this field.
H.E. MD and CEO of DEWA Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer received the certification from Vice President of Bureau Veritas – Industry and Facilities Division (Middle East) Mr. Bruno Ferreyra at DEWA head office in Dubai yesterday with the presence of senior staff from both firms.
Mr. Al Tayer, following receiving the certificate, announced that this is one of DEWA’s continuous confirmation of the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai to the significance of collaboration of efforts to drive the Government performance to the highest possible levels of Excellence.
H.E. added, “DEWA always aims and remains within the top elite organizations, therefore I am proud to announce that, DEWA is the First Governmental Department in UAE and among the first institutions in the GCC countries and the Middle East Region, to accomplish the SA8000-2008 Certification, in its first attempt, in a record time and in utilizing its own resources. DEWA is accustomed to this, because Excellence concept and application have been adopted in all DEWA sectors.”
MD and CEO of DEWA commented, “DEWA has achieved this certification, in line with its vision and mission, and in our race towards Globalization and care for our most valuable resources “Human Resources”. This certificate is an evidence of our commitment to the values we have adopted and practiced, among which, is the Social Accountability. The assessment was made by a well reputed international assessment body, in the Award Certification field, namely; Bureau Veritas Certification.”
Finally, Mr. Al Tayer congratulated and appreciated all staff of DEWA for their continuous efforts for getting this achievement, and he encouraged them forward for more efforts to extend quality services and serve the Public Interest at our best.
