    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority wins two prizes at the GCC First E-Government

     

    Within the framework of DEWA’s participation in the e-Government First Gulf Conference, recently held in the Sultanate of Oman, DEWA received the second place Award in the category of Best E-Service for the electronic payment service of electronic invoices. DEWA was also awarded the third place within the category of the best E- Project for, SAP System «utilities services» for Billing and Customer Relationship Department.

    On this occasion, HE / Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, MD and CEO –DEWA, emphasized that, DEWA winning of the award categories in the GCC First Conference for E-Government is an achievement to be added to DEWA various successes and it is a conclusive evidence of the success of the strategy adopted by the Authority in all its services and projects. HE mentioned that ,the e-services is a sector that receives continuous support and improvement, and DEWA consistently endeavors to develop its working methods and to adopt the latest technologies, which would improve the services provided and achieve customer satisfaction.

    HE Mr. Al Tayer ,also commended the recommendations upon which the Conference was concluded ,in particular ,with regard to building and strengthening effective partnerships with segments of society and the various economic sectors to accelerate the transition to the Digital Society and adopting the best global practices to reach the level of the integrated e-government , encourage the use of national cadres in the implementation of e-government projects and programs, strengthen partnerships with the Education Sector, Government and Private Institutions in the field of E-Government.

    The Award ceremony was attended by Engineer / Marwan Bin Haider, Vice President - Head of the IT –DEWA and Ms / Moza AlAkraf, Governance and Strategic Planning Specialist in DEWA, in the presence of the sponsor of the ceremony, HE / Abdul Nabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources in the Sultanate of Oman.

    In this regard, Engineer / Marwan Bin Haider, warranted that DEWA participation within the award is a fruitful opportunity to meet with the brothers in the Gulf Region , especially in the IT sector , view their experiences , exchange information and identify the best practices in the field of electronic services. DEWA participation under the umbrella of the UAE in the exhibition has formed an important occasion to raise the awareness of participants and the Public, of the electronic services provided by DEWA. Bin Haider stated that, the Authority had started its preparations to participate in the second session, scheduled in Kuwait. He concluded his statement by thanking the General Authority for Information, represented in HE Salem Al Shaair –the General Manager of the Authority, for the efforts spent during this conference and the accompanied exhibition.
